CONFERENCES
The Society presents a major Conference every other year,
during which prominent South African and foreign keynote speakers
are invited to participate. Members of the society get the opportunity to
present research papers and discuss and assess each
other's work. A selection of these papers are normally published in
a special edition of the journal, the SAJE.
Conference themes are topical and generally invoke much interest.
In the past, conference attendance has varied from 150 and 250
delegates.
Recent Conferences boasted with the following themes:
1995 - Reconstruction and Development
1997 - The economics of human development in a global environment
1999 - International capital flows, emerging markets and South
Africa
2001 - The Economic Empowerment of Southern Africa
2003 - Africa's Millennium: Trade, Investment and Growth
