PRIZES - ABSA
BANK PRIZE FOR HONOURS STUDENTS
The
ABSA Bank Prize is awarded as an incentive to honours students in
economics. The award is made annually to a bona fide honours student in economics at a South African
university. The award consists of a bronze medal. Entries for
the Prize will take the form of an essay not exceeding 6500 words.
The subject of the essay is the choice of the candidate. One
entry is allowed per department per university.
The ESSA Central
Council appoints an adjudicator to nominate the winner. The
adjudicator is asked to use the following criteria as guidelines:
- The essay should testify to independent research
although an original contribution to the subject is not a
prerequisite.
- The essay must be systematic and well presented.
- The essay can be analytical as well as
descriptive in nature but should in any case form a logical unit.
- The essay is original and could possibly be
published in a journal.
