National PhD Conference 2023 – Final Call for Papers

The Economic Society of South Africa (ESSA) in collaboration with Economic Research Southern Africa (ERSA), the Academy of Science of South Africa (ASSAf) and the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) will host its first official National PhD Conference. The conference will run for two days and will take place during the week of 6 to 10 February 2023. We are pleased to announce that the University of Fort Hare has accepted our offer to host the conference, which will take place at their East London campus. We encourage PhD candidates from all economics programmes at universities across South Africa to apply.

School Of Accounting, Economics, And Finance - Westville Campus. The School of Accounting, Economics, and Finance seeks to appoint suitably qualified applicants to the permanent staff who will contribute actively to the training and education of undergraduate and postgraduate students in Economics and to build the knowledge base of the discipline through teaching, research, academic leadership and mentoring and community engagement. Administration of certain teaching activities within the discipline is also required. Specialised research and teaching experience in any areas of economics will be considered, particularly Advanced Microeconomics, Development Economics, Maritime Economics, Advanced Macroeconomics, and/or Advanced Econometrics in addition to the minimum requirements stated below.

The Economics and Management Sciences (EMS) Faculty at the University of Pretoria is establishing a multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary Public Policy Hub (PPH) aimed at bridging the gap between policymakers, practitioners, field experts in the public sector as well as researchers in academia to strengthen evidence-based, contextually relevant, and sustainable public policy in Africa. The PPH’s overall goals and research focus areas are anchored and developed within the framework of the African Union’s (AU) Agenda 2063 and the Agenda 2030 on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
